Highly-rated super-lightweight Sam Maxwell plans to send a message to some big names after being confirmed on the Leicester bill on February 23.
The Liverpudlian – a former Team GB star already 10-0-KO8 as a professional – will feature on the undercard of Sam Bowen vs. Ronnie Clark at the Morningside Arena; live on BT Sport.Maxwell told frankwarren.com:“I know they see something in me because Frank Warren has put me on all these amazing shows.“I know they believe in me but I think it’s about time I get pushed on so I can show them what I am really all about. I want to show my level to the public as well.“There are loads at my weight that would be a brilliant fight in which I’d come out on top. If I was offered Ohara Davies, I’d take that fight and I’d be confident of winning.“As a boxer, I’m ten times better. Ohara is a big name and I’m ready to move to his level. I feel like a young 30-year-old. I still feel fresh and my training up in Scotland with Danny Vaughan has given me a new lease of life.“I feel I’m the best boxer I’ve ever been and I’ve made massive improvements.”
Maxwell was last in action at the Manchester Arena in December – becoming just the second man in 81 fights to stop Jamie Quinn with a devastating first-round victory.
