10 Jan SAKYI SHUTS OUT NOISE TO SEEK & DESTROY
Southern Area super-lightweight champion Mikey Sakyi has tunnel vision as he prepares to defend his title for the first time on March 9.
The Londoner (7-2-KO3) stunned York Hall by stopping Siar Ozgul to claim the crown in July 2018 and now faces Idris Hill on MTK Global’s Brentwood Centre show – live on iFL TV.
Sakyi said: “Atmosphere makes no difference to me. We could be in an empty sports hall or a packed-out arena.
“I just know I’ve got a job to do and anything external doesn’t matter. I’ve got a job to do and I’ll do the business. I’ve learned over time to not let anything to outside effect.
“I haven’t sparred Idris before and I don’t know too much about him but I know his fitness level is high. Anything else, I’ll just pick up from watching his previous fights.
“I’ll watch a bit of him but I don’t really look at people’s fights too much because people can improve and change between fights.
“I know he’ll bring something to the table but I’m ready for it.”
Joining Sakyi vs. Hill on a busy night of boxing is world-ranked Michael McKinson’s defence of the WBC International Silver welterweight title against Ryan Kelly.
