12 Jun FIELDING ‘BUZZING’ WITH WORLD TITLE SHOT AT ZEUGE
Rocky Fielding has been handed a dream world title shot against unbeaten WBA super-middleweight king Tyron Zeuge at the Baden Arena in Offenburg on July 14.
Liverpool’s Fielding (26-1-KO14) won the British and Commonwealth crowns last year but graduates to world level in a bout that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Fielding said: “I’m absolutely buzzing. It’s been a dream of mine since I was nine years old when I first walked in to a gym. Now my chance has finally come.
“I’ve no fears about being the away fighter. A ring is a ring and it’ll be just me and him in there. That’s all that matters to me.
“I can punch and he’ll feel it once I land. I’m just going to listen to my trainer Jamie Moore, who’s had a massive impact on me. You saw that in the fight with David Brophy.
“Beating Zeuge is all that’s on my mind now. Becoming world champion will be everything to me and once I’ve achieved that, the bouts against my domestic rivals will come too.”
Zeuge (22-0-1-KO12) added: “It takes place on the same day as the World Cup third-place play off in Russia.
“I promise to my fans that they won’t see anything but the best from me, a real final, and another successful defence. I’m in full training and I feel strong.”
Berlin’s Zeuge won the title by stopping Italy’s Giovanni De Carolis in Potsdam in November 2016 and has since made three defences – one of which was against another Liverpudlian, Paul Smith, last year.
